Yuexiu Group Won the 2014 China MAKE Award

On Jan. 13, 2015, “Asian Knowledge Forum cum 2014 MAKE Award Presentation Ceremony”, sponsored by Knowledge Management and Innovation Research Centre (KMIRC) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, was held at Marco Polo Hotels in Hong Kong. Yuexiu Group won “the Most Admired Knowledge Enterprise of the Year 2014” (China MAKE for short) for its first enrolment. It is known that “the Most Admired Knowledge Enterprise (MAKE)” is the highest honor in international knowledge management to recognize the outstanding achievements of knowledge-based organization in knowledge management.

The review committee considered that successful practice of knowledge management of Yuexiu Group in recent years had provided a valuable example for companies of investment holding pattern to promote knowledge management comprehensively.

Since knowledge management was launched in 2012, leading by Information Center and Knowledge Management Center of Yuexiu Group, a lot of work on clear orientation, drawing plans, perfecting institution, building organizations, establishing system, enriching content, propagandizing and popularizing and long-term mechanism were carried out under the great support of leaders of the Group and active participation of every business units and functional department to form a knowledge management model with Yuexiu characteristics.

After two years’ efforts, mobile knowledge management platform of the Group and the main business units had been established and a large number of valuable knowledge outcomes had been obtained, including key project knowledge such as Guangzhou IFC construction, Juren project, Peony project and leadership development project, and irregular introduced topics on different business. Thus accumulation and heredity of core knowledge would be realized.

In knowledge management system, a three-level (headquarters, business units and subsidiaries) knowledge management system was created, and knowledge management model of unified management and graded responsibility was implemented to improve professional knowledge accumulation by headquarters, business units and subsidiaries according to the different responsibilities.

In long-term mechanism of knowledge management, first, to arouse staff’s initiative by a series of activities such as Knowledge Star of the Month, Knowledge Contribution Star, Original Knowledge Competition, Knowledge Map Competition, etc.; second, incorporating knowledge management contribution into performance responsibility documents of each business units and functional departments to normalize knowledge management gradually; and third, to promote the further formation of the organizational culture of exchange and share of knowledge by improving the interactive functions of knowledge platform such as iask, groups and forum.

By the enrolment of China MAKE, the Group had expanded popularity in the field of knowledge management and created a favorable image; and communicating with the experts through the platform would benefit the thought and the level of knowledge management of the Group.
