On Oct. 14, Guangdong Provincial Government Advisory Committee Transition Conference and Provincial Governor and Experts Symposium were held at Guangdong Hotel. 59 well-known experts, scholars and entrepreneurs at home and abroad were appointed as members of the provincial government "think tank", and Chairman Zhang Zhaoxing, along with 10 other entrepreneurs, was appointed as Entrepreneur Member of Provincial Government Advisory Committee for Policy Decision and became a member of the "think tank".

It is learned that the basic selection criteria for appointing committee members are as follows: "Politically firm with excellent academic level, great influence in the industry and remarkable research achievements". The composition of the advisory committee is based on the experiences of "high-end" and "well-chosen rather than excessive" as reference, and "high level, interdisciplinary and influential" experts and scholars are selected as committee members. The total number in this year is downsized to 59 from 130 in the first session, including 12 advisory members, 36 expert members and 11 entrepreneur members. There are entrepreneurs from centrally-administrated or provincial state-owned enterprise as well as from well-known private enterprises, all of whom are senior executives such as chairmen and general managers with high popularity and extensive enterprise management theories and experiences.

The major responsibilities of Provincial Government Advisory Committee for Policy Decision are listed as follows: conduct research on hot and difficult issues in the economy and society in Guangdong Province to provide policy-making advisory opinions and suggestions for governmental scientific decision-making; take part in feasibility research and evaluation on key construction projects or major research topic in Guangdong Province; carry out tracking study on new situations and new problems under new normal condition and propose countermeasures; and participate in policy-making consulting activities held by provincial government and development research center to offer advice and suggestions for development of the economy and society in Guangdong.
